For more than a quarter of a century, Hartmut Asche has significantly influenced the research fields of geoinformation, visualisation, and cartography. This book represents a gift from the staff of the Institute of Geography of the University of Potsdam on the occasion of his retirement in March 2017. Internationally renowned researchers who accompanied Mr Asche’s career have contributed to the Festschrift. Numerous scientific highlights marking Mr Asche’s career are reflected in the authors’ contributions, which deal with research in the disciplines of geography, geoinformatics, cartography, and remote sensing.
